Helmut Klein studied graphic and visual arts and lithography, taking lessons in photography. From 1970 to 1977 he lived in South Africa, starting a career as editorial photographer; first exhibitions.
In 1977 he moved to Seattle, then Vancouver, and returned to Vienna in 1979.
Since 1981 he has been working as professional photographer for advertising and magazines, several international awards for advertising photography; exhibitions in Europe and the USA.
Since 1988 member of the Art Directors Club New York, member of the Visual Arts Association "Vienna Kuenstlerhaus". Expert on photography, prepress and printing.
